What is Databricks?

Databricks is a cloud data and AI platform that combines data engineering, data warehousing, business intelligence and machine learning in one environment. It is aimed at data teams, analysts and enterprises that need to build ETL pipelines, run SQL analytics, govern data assets and deploy AI agents and applications. Main features include Lakeflow for batch and streaming pipelines, a serverless data warehouse, Unity Catalog for governance, Genie for conversational analytics and Lakebase, a serverless Postgres database. It is sold through paid plans with usage based pricing, and a free edition is available for learning.
