What is Bit?

Bit is a software composition platform that organizes source code into reusable, independently versioned components so teams can build and share features across projects. It targets developers and engineering teams working in monorepos, multirepos, micro frontends and component libraries, and it integrates with AI coding agents to generate component boilerplate, tests and documentation. Bit Cloud adds hosting for frontends, backends and databases, plus packages, change requests, a dependency graph and analytics. The core tool is open source and free, while Bit Cloud and team and enterprise offerings are sold as paid plans.
